The decree of the land elders of Greater Poland in the case between Salamon Abramowicz, the rabbi of Koło, and the local kahal

The elders of Greater Poland gathered in the regional council in Pyzdry together with the rabbi of Poznań, Naftali Ickowicz, ordered the Koło elders to pay rabbi Salamon Abramowicz a salary of 900 zlotys with a commission of 180 zlotys annually, which the rabbi was to recover, collecting half of the community’s income from cattle and poultry slaughter tax (the so-called “krupka”). In exchange they forbade him to do any trade in the city. In the event of renewing the contract for the office of the rabbi, elders of the Koło were to provide him with a higher income and help him execute his debts.
